At this point you might be shaking your head a bit.

Milton Erikson and other well-known hypnotists used no swinging watches or blinking lights when they "hypnotized" people. They merely chatted. When he was called before the medical board for malpractice (he was using hypnosis, which of course, does not exist), after dismissing the case, the doctors on the review panel said they felt a bit woozy during the meeting, but they attributed it to having just eaten a big lunch.

Have you ever been in a thinking rut? You're poring over a problem, but no matter what you do, you can't think of any kind of solution. You keep thinking "What do I do?" over and over, but no answer is in sight.

This is planting a suggestion. You're wondering now, which makes you open to receiving new information. Now we say, "I'm not sure why, but I have a feeling you may be a lot more certain you'll be able to find an answer to your problem now."

A few months ago, I wasn't feeling up to par. I had a cold coming on, and I was not feeling well. I told myself, "You feel awful. Ugh." Since I had made this empathetic connection to my inner self, I then said, "But then, how do you know you won't feel a bit better in a few minutes... maybe even as fast as the next few seconds?"

This got me wondering, and I stopped thinking about how awful I felt. I told myself, "Hey, you're feeling a bit better now, aren't you?" I followed that with, "Wow, this method really works well!" And suddenly I was feeling better and could go on with my day.

Can you see how this worked? The effect was guaranteed, even though I knew exactly what was supposed to happen. It worked because it followed the rules our brains use to change thought patterns.

My name is David and I have been working on the internet since 1999 and have never seen anything like Giblink.

I do notice, though, that the owners/founders of some of the new online programs/businesses are taking care of the needs of the people that join their business.

They are realizing that we are not faceless creatures with wallets to give them all our money.

Many entrepreneurs are really cutting back or getting out of the internet business altogether, because of promises made but never kept. the program might work for a while - "Big Hitters" making a killing in the beginning and then the program closing for lack of new funds and discouraged members who

have stopped advertising because they haven't gotten paid, and no-one will join them.

Some programs never launch, they just keep taking your money and telling you to keep growing your team because launch will be any day now --- then they run off with everyone's money. It's hard to believe but some of these program the owners have never been seen by any of their members; the members don't know where they live, or if there is backup or if it is a one/man-woman operation, and of course these owners will get new email addresses and telephone numbers...never to be heard from again.

Then you have the programs where you have to pay a monthly fee. You are told get 2 or 3 and then its free - never happens - more money lost.

I call it "Playing the Net".

Bad Legs:

Bad Legs are a very common condition amongst racehorses

To really get to grips with what is involved when training a horse in preparation to race, we should make a comparison with the process that is undergone when training human athletes.

For example, what might have happened if Seb Coe had tried to run in the 100m?

Did you ever see Seb Coe turning up on the track without his tracksuit on, or would he have raced if he had badly injured his legs?

Horses exactly like humans have distances that they favor and are competitive at, and this is very important in deciding how a horse will fare in a race against the competition.

When sweating up before or after a race, horses have blankets thrown over them because just as humans pull muscles, strain tendons and in severe cases pull up during a race, so do horses.

Trainers get really anxious about a horses forelegs. It is these in particular that take a great deal of punishment during a race, and especially when jumping fences or when the ground is very hard.

Sometimes the condition "bad legs" can be put down to being inherited, and often it can be protected against by wearing bandages on the forelegs to provide additional support.

Betting on the rails:

Bookmakers are not allowed to make a book in the member's enclosure on racecourses.

Many of the annual members or those who pay on the day to enter the members enclosure, do obviously want to have a bet, so to get around this problem bookmakers set up pitches right next to the rails that separate members from Tattersalls ring.

A lot of business on the rails is done on credit, but cash is usually also taken

Rails bookmakers are essential to the price shifts in a market, but they are no longer able to control the movements exclusively. This is because 90% of betting today takes place off course.

The balance of power has been disrupted by the Betting Exchanges, such as Betfair and Betdaq.

Rails Bookmakers have their own association, and are generally considered to be at the top end of the market.

Solid support for a given betting shop horse will force the price down on the racecourse as the money for it filters through to the racecourse, and in particular the rails by telephone by tic tac, and now by wireless computer networks. Instantly the shorter price is relayed to the other betting rings on the course.

The interaction between the 3 main betting sources nowadays includes Betting shops, the Betting Ring and the Betting Exchanges. The use of live websites and Satellite Information Services enables these 3 sources to interact simultaneously, and the experienced trader will have to establish the delicate balance between these 3 sources to succeed at his trade.

Betting ring:

Betting Rings on a racecourse are the enclosures where the betting actually takes place.

In Tattersalls ring, the admission charge covers admission to the lesser rated silver ring and also the paddock.

The silver ring is named due to the coinage that bookmakers used to accept here.

On some courses there isn't a silver ring anymore. Betting on the course occurs in areas of the racecourse with free admission and is known as surprisingly enough "Betting on the Course"

Betting shop:

Since the boom of the sixties when they were first legalized, the number of betting shops has been in steady decline to about 8000 today.

Between 1st April and 31st August betting shops are now allowed to stay open until 10pm. But it wasn't till 1993 that the law was altered to allow this, so that punters could bet on evening races.

Betting shop technology has improved beyond recognition in recent years, with Satellite Information Services (SIS) now available on banks of screens in the betting shops giving all the latest prices and running commentaries

Black type:

Once successful in a listed or pattern race a horse is then said to have gained "black type". This means basically that in order to indicate the horses relevance as breeding stock, the horses name appears in black bold type in the bloodstock sales magazines.

If a horse finishes below third in any of these races it is no longer entitled to black type.

Blinkers:

Basically a hood which fits over the head of the horse with shields at the eye holes to diminish the horse's peripheral vision. The idea is that this concentrates the horse's attention ahead by reducing what it might be able to see on either side.

It's always worth noting when a horse first wears blinkers and this will be advertised on the better race cards and often in the racing press. It can sometimes result in a notable improvement in a horses running, but it should not be considered as an antidote to poor form.

Blinkers are more common these days and no longer carry the reputation as being a signature for a horse of poor character. There may well be horses that are less reliable that wear blinkers, but there are more frequently horses whose performance is simply improved by wearing them

Racing Post and Timeform give their view as to whether a horse is genuine, and will advise on whether or not blinkers will improve their chances. Conversely a good tip towards a horse's true capabilities can be if after being tried in blinkers, the horse races next time without them.

A visor is created by taking a pair of blinkers and cutting a slit in the eye shield to give the horse a degree of peripheral vision. This may allow the horses that are running at the side to be seen. A hood covers the ears while leaving the eyes full vision. This is used for horses that are affected by too much noise.

Hood and visor use should be indicated on race cards and in the better racing press.

Blow up:

"Went like a bomb" is not a related term (for those with a sense of humor).

This term refers to a horse which in the home straight simply falls out of contention after running a good race up till that point. Very frustrating for the losing punter. Sometimes referred to as "Stopping to nothing".

Volvo Expands Into Wagons, Crossovers

Volvo is getting ready to roll the red carpet and welcome the newest wagons and crossovers into its clan. The new Volvo XC60 crossover is set to arrive in 2009. By that time, the automaker will be having 5 wagons or crossovers. However, Volvo will not be stopping there because it intends to make further expansions.

The automaker is contemplating on moving both upscale and downmarket from the existing lineup of the Volvo vehicles V50, V70, XC70, XC90 and XC60. This information was divulged by Volvo's top executives at the North American International Auto Show. "Volvo is well-known for its versatility," said Steven Armstrong, Volvo Car Corporation's COO. "We were producing crossovers before the term was even invented. There are still plenty of opportunities to fill in gaps with new things."

It can be recalled that Volvo has created a luxury wagon concept for the 2003 Geneva auto show called the Versatility Concept Car. Said concept, if produced, will be called the Volvo V90. Volvo also is studying a crossover smaller than the Volvo XC60, said Lex Kerssemakers, Volvo Car senior vice president of brand business and product strategy. "If we were to further expand our model range, likely it would be in the V or XC range."

The Volvo XC60 Concept was revealed at 2007 North American International Auto Show. Said vehicle will share same Ford C1 platform technology with the Land Rover Freelander. The vehicle should not be confused with the Volvo XC50 which was the first name used for the vehicle. The Volvo XC60 delivers brand new styling and design direction that mirrors upcoming Volvo vehicles.

The Volvo XC60 is about the same size as the BMW X3 or Acura RDX. It boasts outstanding features like the glass roof and a newly styled grille, a new shifting mechanism, a mechanical tail gate, a much larger Volvo symbol, and 20-inch rims.

Armstrong said that such a vehicle would be a logical move for people who entered the Volvo brand with the Volvo C30 hatchback or S40 sedan. As for the Volvo V90, Kerssemakers said it is "high on my wish list, but we have to be realistic. There's a limit to what a small organization can do."

Though the automaker is expanding into wagons and crossovers, it said that one segment it will not enter is minivans. "The XC90 is our seven-seat interpretation," Kerssemakers said. "We're happy with it. Our customers are happy with it." Kerssemakers also concluded that Volvo needs to ensure that its current lineup is profitable before it can expand into new arenas. "All those variants cost a lot of money. But it is easier to cancel or reduce volumes of a vehicle than to suddenly have to play catch-up."

Volvo has built several wagons and crossovers before. One of which is the Volvo 850, a compact executive car which is available in both sedan and station wagon. Volvo 850 parts mated to the very first front-wheel drive vehicle to be exported to North America create a fabulous impression on the automaker. In 1998, the Volvo 850 was modified and renamed the S70 (sedan version) and V70 (station wagon version). These vehicles were replaced by the Volvo S60 and Volvo V70.

Blink 182 (pronounced "blink one eighty two") is a punk band from San Diego, California, U.S. formed in 1992 by Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Scott Raynor in the northern San Diego suburb of Poway. Travis Barker replaced Raynor on drums in 1998, midway through blink-182's US tour. The group went on "indefinite hiatus" in 2005. In 2006, Mark Hoppus & Travis Barker conducted an interview with MTV and confirmed that the group is officially broken up.

The group was known for their catchy melodies, as well as for satirical, and sometimes profanity-laden, toilet humor. Musically, the band played up-tempo songs with prominent major-chord harmonies, often digitally mixed, to provide a much cleaner sound than typical punk/rock recordings, which generally exhibit distortion and analogue mixes to achieve the opposite effect. However, their last album showed a significant departure from their previous works and helped exhibit their more mature musical prowess while showcasing some advancement in the sophistication of their lyrical themes. The lyrical content of their songs, prior to their last album, was usually humorous and light hearted. blink-182 fans were predominantly teenagers; however, they managed to establish a more mature following with their latest offering.

Although the band is labeled as Blink 182 on albums prior to Raynor's departure, the official rendering of the band's name is blink-182. The numbers 182 were added to the band's name to prevent a trademark conflict with the Irish pop group Blink. However, fans frequently refer to the band informally as 'Blink'.

History:

Early career (1992-1995)

The beginnings of the band can be traced back to the early '90s when DeLonge was reportedly expelled from Poway High School during junior year after being caught drunk at a school basketball game. After he transferred to another school, he met Anne Hoppus, sister of Mark Hoppus, who introduced DeLonge to her brother. The day the two future bandmates met, they were skateboarding with friends in a plaza parking lot and to impress DeLonge, Hoppus climbed a lamp post and jumped from the top, cracking both heels. The two hit it off and eventually came up with the name "Duck Tape" for the name of new band. Duck Tape soon transformed into Blink. In need of a drummer, DeLonge recruited 14-year-old Scott Raynor, whom he had seen playing at a "Battle of the Bands".

In May 1993, Blink released a demo tape entitled Flyswatter, recorded in drummer Scott Raynor's bedroom. It was their first album and a 4-track was used to record the material, resulting in poor sound quality and according to Hoppus, only around fifty copies were produced. Their first real show took place at a bar and since they were underage, they were only allowed to enter when it was time for their set. They bought 50 tickets to sell, but no one came to see them. After only one song Blink was kicked off the stage and out of the bar. Before the end of the year, the band released another demo tape known as Buddha. Around 1,000 copies were produced by Filter Records (owned by Hoppus' boss).

In early 1994, the success of the Buddha demo lead to Blink being signed with Cargo Records. Blink recorded their debut full-length album, Cheshire Cat in just three days. The album contained a number of updated versions of songs that had appeared on the Buddha demo.

Shortly after the release of Cheshire Cat, Blink was threatened with legal action by a techno band in Ireland of the same name. In order to avoid a lengthy lawsuit, Blink appended "-182" to the end of their name. There are several rumours as to why these numbers were ultimately chosen, such as their correspondence to the number of times Al Pacino utters the word "Fuck" in Scarface, the 1985 Timothy Hutton film, Turk 182!, their representation of Hoppus's ideal weight, or that they represent the position in the alphabet of the letters 'R' and 'B,' referring to the northern San Diego suburb of Rancho Bernardo. However, the band members have dismissed such claims and maintain that the numbers were picked at random. However, in one interview, Barker stated that the "182" was the U.S. radio code meaning 'homicide' (apparently confusing "182," the radio code for conspiracy, with "187"). During the pop punk boom of the 1990s, blink-182 was signed by MCA in 1996 which later became Geffen Records
